Volunteer Opportunity: Glencoe Club

Position Title: Freelance Journalist/Content Writer

Department: Communications

Reports To: Communications Director/Athletic Manager

Position: Volunteer (5-10 hours/week onsite)

Purpose of Position:

Research, write and create professional articles with consistent writing style for Club internal and external communication avenues.

This includes but is not limited to The Glencoe Website, quarterly publication, weekly member emails, Facebook and Twitter.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

 University or College experience preferred.

 Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

 Experience using computers both Apple and Windows based.

 Ability to think outside the box and run with an idea.

 Have exceptional communication (both written and verbal) and strong organizational skills.

 An outgoing personality able to foster relationships with members and employees.

 Understanding of social media networks, delivery platforms and standards by creating compelling dialogue.

 Ensure communications contain consistent core messages.

 Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

 General knowledge of DSLR cameras, photography and photo manipulation (Color correction, etc) an asset.

 Committed to keeping current with relevant technologies, media and evolving social media platforms.

Special Equipment & Work Aids Used in Communications Department:

Apple & Windows based Networked Computers, MacBook Pro Laptop, Ipad, Digital Photocopiers, Digital SLR Camera, Software:

Adobe CC, Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

 Works closely with the all staff to assist in synergies and programs between departments/clubs

 Able to respond to constructive feedback from the team, other staff or internal clients,

and provide constructive feedback on other projects, as well

 professional, clean appearance
