Indigenous Reporters Scholarship Fund

I've attached a document outlining a number of upcoming opportunities for Indigenous journalism/media students: (5) scholarships for $3,000 each. The scholarships are open to Canadian students who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) and are currently enrolled in a post-secondary media program at a Canadian institution or who will be attending one in the spring 2016 semester.

The application deadline is Friday, November 13, 2015.

Feb 20 Deadline: Michael T. Kaufman Fellowship

Beginning in 2015, TOL will start offering a fellowship for each of its journalism courses in honor of Michael T. Kaufman, the late founding editor of Transitions, TOL's print predecessor. and a long-time foreign correspondent at The New York Times.

The fellowship is designed to encourage students from North America, Western Europe, and Australia to explore and report on Central and Eastern Europe.

The Gordan Sinclair Roving Reporter Bursary

The Gordon Sinclair Roving Reporter Bursary supports a research and reporting trip by an early career Canadian journalist who has recently graduated from one of Canada's university-level journalism programs or will graduate this June. The purpose of the $15,000 bursary is to encourage a young journalist to get off the beaten track and to spend a considerable period away on a reporting assignment – a minimum of six weeks.

Fred Row Journalism Bursary

This bursary is awarded annually by a committee of editors from the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association (AWNA) and presented jointly by Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC) and the Association at AWNA's annual convention in September. The annual award is intended to help offset tuition and material costs for that year. Bursary applications are submitted each year to AWNA by AWNA-member weekly editors and by individuals. Bursary is awarded to two Albertans and/or NWT residents in the amount of $1,000. each.

Chuck MacLean Memorial Journalism Bursaries

This bursary is awarded annually by a committee of editors from the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association (AWNA) and presented jointly by Cenovus Energy and the Association at AWNA's annual convention in June. The annual award is intended to help offset tuition and material costs for that year. Bursary applications are submitted each year to AWNA by AWNA-member weekly editors and by individuals. The bursary is awarded to TWO Albertans and/or NWT residents in the amount of $2,000 each.

Deadline: Monday, February 23, 2015
