Army Embedding Opportunity

Tuesday, 24 March 2015 13:40

The Army Reserve will pay 4-6 student journalists to embed with its soldiers during a training exercise 15-23 August at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright.  Selected students will act as embedded media: tweeting, writing articles, taking photos (and possibly shooting video) for publication in Live It magazine and the Western Sentinel newspaper.  The army will provide transport between Calgary and Wainwright, all meals, and basic field equipment including sleeping bag, cot, and helmet.  Students should expect to sleep in communal tents and to provide their own camera, phone and laptop.  This is intended for senior students who have completed second year.  Selected students will each be paid $100 per day.

Internships at the Calgary Herald

Wednesday, 04 February 2015 14:05

Multimedia reporters

The Calgary Herald is seeking three summer reporters — fully-multimedia journalists who can help us lead the local news agenda through hard work, a clear understanding of complex issues, creativity, and strong writing.

Along the way, you’ll get a chance to dress up in some jeans and western duds to cover the Calgary Stampede, write and shoot video on the unique issues facing our young, fast-paced city, and perhaps experience a flood or hailstorm -- or both.

While we certainly can’t forecast Calgary’s weather for this summer, we can predict accurately that you will get a fantastic opportunity to help us deliver award-winning, innovative approaches to journalism across four platforms: Web, Tablet, Smartphone and Print.
