India Field school for spring 2016 is ready to accept applicants

The India Field school for spring 2016 is ready to accept applicants.

We're holding information sessions right after reading break on Monday Feb. 23rd, at noon, and Tuesday Feb. 24th at 4:30 pm, both in room O205.

India 2016 is open to all students in the Faculty of Communication Studies.

2016 will be our third India field school. To date 53 students participated in 2012 and 2014 combined.

*The field school comprises two courses one each in general education clusters
3 and 4, at tier 3. (or can be used as electives)
* It features an extensive pre-departure preparation phase
* It begins with a week of classes on campus
* The India component is 22 days per student
* As in the past we will spend time at an ashram/home for orphaned and
abandoned children, which is where we do our major group projects
* We'll have a week at a partner university, to include visits to the Golden
Temple in Amritsar and the mountain city of Dharamshala, the Dalai
Lama's home
* We'll spend some time in India's ancient capital city New Delhi, and this time we
will also visit the Taj Mahal in Agra

International Declaration of Intent Form - Due Feb. 15

Reminder: If you are interested in pursuing an international work experience in the Spring 2015 semester, the attached International Declaration of Intent Form must be completed and submitted no later than February 15, 2015.
 
Completed forms are to be submitted in hard copy to Workstation #4 in the Career Services department.

Earth Day Presentation: WATER, March 5, 7 p.m.

The institute for Environmental Sustainability would like to invite you to our 2015 special event; Join us on March 5th, 7 p.m., to see and hear how nature is transformed by industry through the lens of the world-renowned photographer, Edward Burtynsky. Through his poetic images, Burtynsky reveals a vital component of life on earth, and foreshadows the extent to which our future depends on how we deal with this increasingly scarce resource. In this immersive talk, Burtynsky tells us the story of where water comes from, how we distribute it, use it, and waste it.Seating is limited. Free tickets are available online. We encourage you to purchase your tickets as soon as possible because they are selling fast.

Social Impact YYC

Social Impact YYC is a meetup for Calgarians interested in nonprofits, social enterprises, social innovation, sustainability, impact investing and social finance. This Meetup is organized in collaboration by the Mount Royal University Institute for Community Prosperity, The Banff Centre, givoco, and Epic YYC / Pivotville.

On January 21st at Cafe Blanca from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Social Impact YYC will be holding its first meetup: Building a Successful Social Enterprise Within a Nonprofit Organization

This will be a fun event designed to encourage ongoing dialogue and conversation between people who are passionate about building the social enterprise community in Calgary.
